We used TW Boorman to look after Mum when she had passed away and to take her to the Crematorium for us to say our final goodbye.

Tansy in the Tonbridge office was my primary contact and she helped me with the practical arrangements and ensured that everything was in place for the cremation. Tansy's professionalism and helpful manner throughout as we subsequently fine tuned the arrangements were much appreciated and she was a pleasure to deal with.

The day of the funeral was very well managed by Ian and his team who showed absolute courtesy, respect and professionalism and everything went to plan.

The coffin was smoothly and professionally delivered to the front of the Chapel of rest and my only observation for future funeral's would be that greater consideration should be given to the the relative height differences between the individual pall bearers.

I used T W Boorman to arrange my Papa's funeral. Everyone I spoke to were friendly, professional and calm. Sam and Laura were both incredible, going out of their way to make sure that I got everything I wanted for the service. Nothing was too much to ask for, even doing a last minute change to dress Papa in the suit he wore for my wedding. If I could give more stars, I would. Firstly if you are reading this review our thoughts are with you at this difficult time. Secondly if you are considering your options I respectfully suggest that you go anywhere else and avoid TW Boorman’s at all costs.

Sadly having no prior knowledge of Tonbridge funeral directors Boorman’s were selected to handle our family funeral and this was a huge mistake, alarm bells should have run when our solicitors simply said Oh when they were advised who would be the chosen funeral directors, this was followed by an uncomfortable silence over the phone with the crematorium when Boorman’s name was provided.

At every stage throughout this sorry period we had to make all of the decisions, repeatedly chasing Boorman’s (Tansy in particular) for assistance. Subsequent visits to their shop front – this is not an office and you are not provided the courtesy of a private room, you are merely sitting in the window and at the time of our visit there was another gentleman in the shop at the next desk and all conversations took place in the open which was completely insensitive and inappropriate. The mess on desks and in particular the rear room was laughed off as - we are so busy.

Phrases such as commiserations, sympathies and condolences slip off their tongues without any feeling and as a client you are treated like someone shopping for groceries rather than as a family member who has recently lost someone very dear. Borman’s are to be frank only interested in money, they are very happy to tell you just how busy they are and how “sadly” there are so many deaths. If you are lucky they will even share private information about other funerals. Delays in collecting the deceased was passed off due to “lack of space” and lengthy delays in finalizing a date for the funeral was blamed on the crematorium. We took matters in our own hands and spoke to the crematorium they confirmed that there were many earlier dates and the delay was with Borman’s who did not have the capacity.

It is also notable that the sales staff, Tansy and Anita take great pains to distance themselves from “the funeral directors” this became a pattern closer to the date of the funeral when these two ladies focus more and more on money and costs and start saying “you will be contacted by the funeral directors closer to the date”. We had mistakenly understood that they were all one team, but this distancing and drawing lines is clearly a way of saying don’t blame us.

If you are having to make arrangements I would suggest that you look for a small personal family run business and not Borman’s who are owned by one of the largest funeral companies in the UK and behave as if they are on commission.

TW Boorman were kind, thoughtful, and superbly organised. My brother and I felt we could completely rely on them throughout the process, from first meeting them to the conclusion of the beautifully organised funeral. They had a calm, empathetic efficiency which was just what we needed.
